GoldBox 9 released! New features, maintenance agreement, updates. Features can be viewed here »
June 10, 2011 (2011-A for GoldBox SQL only)
ENHANCED: Copy Out of Saved Setups and Q-files for a new GoldBox 7 system. You can now individually select Setups and Q-files to copy out. GoldBox SQL will also update a counter as a visual cue indicating whether or not a particular Saved Setup was copied out. Ideal if you wish to rerun the process later and transfer over Saved Setups or Q-files that were left in GXSQL.
May 18, 2011
AT DOWNLOADS PAGE: Added an RTF file of the F1 Help panels for GoldBox 7. On some systems, Microsoft disables the F1 Help display in GoldBox.
March 30, 2011 (2011-A for GoldBox 7)
BUG FIX: Import/Update Field Mapping Screen. Fixed GUUBRWS_onNavigate error.
February 1, 2011 (2011-A for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5 — assumed FINAL update)
ENHANCED: Import/Update. When plugging in Group Membership, GoldBox now handles PUBLIC GoldMine Groups (those assigned no User Name).
ENHANCED: Life Ring text file. Previously, the name was truncated to the first 8 characters of the Launch ID. The name now includes all characters of the Launch ID.
June 11, 2010 (2010-B for GoldBox 7)
ENHANCED: Import (GX7 only). Made transparent changes in Batch Processor to handle new fields in CAL and CONTHIST, added by the GoldMine 9.0 Release.
March 29, 2010 (2010-A for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Import Mapping (GX7 only). The AUTO-MAP feature was moved to a selectable BUTTON (next to the Map FIELD button) so that you can invoke it on any GoldMine table. Previously, this was auto-invoked only for MAIN CONTACT imports.
ADDED: FmtZipToUSA() function. Ideal when importing USA Zip Codes stored in Excel previously as Numeric, and leading zeroes were eliminated. Also handles Zip Plus 4.
ADDED: GXListFields() function. Import into Memo field, or Export a calculated Memo field, a list of field values for an active dBase table record. Ideal for duped CONTACT2 records, whereby you could Import the duped C2 record values into the NOTES of a Detail or History record.
ENHANCED: Links Path Changer (GX7 only). The POINT option now allows you to scan entire drive for a GoldMine Linked Document that is NOT FOUND in its tracked location. You can also speed the process by scanning a specific folder. GoldBox drills in up to 25 nested levels per folder when attempting to find the file. In the GX7 Expression Builder (interface only), you can also create a listing in Notepad by using the GXListFolders() function. PLEASE NOTE: This may not work on your system.
ENHANCED: Notes Migrator re-activated (GX7 only). This was automatically deactivated when GoldBox 7 pointed to GoldMine 8.5 or later, because Notes are tracked separately in the NOTES table. However, you can Update the Main Contact Notes field with older GoldMine entries, and then run the Notes Migrator to parse them into History items.
ENHANCED: Global Replace (GX7 only). As with the Import/Update and Export, you can use the SQL Query Value fetch for any of the 20 fields (concurrently) being replaced.
October 3, 2009 (2009-T for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: GXBrowser (All versions). If you open a table and it contains the GoldMine 20 Character ACCOUNTNO field, you can now open GoldMine after the fact, and then manually set the DDE Link from the GXBrowser dropdown menu.
ENHANCED: BloxMarker() Function (All versions). You can now use the function for an auto-resetting COUNTER within record groupings, for Field Replace. See F1 Help panel.
ENHANCED: Contact File VERIFIER (GoldBox 7 ONLY). Exceptions table can be generated; History is now checked for corresponding Email Message in MailBox for Filed Incomings; Linked Documents are now checked for the existence of the physical files on disk; Track References in CONTSUPP are now checked for corresponding A/P Track record in TRACKS; Window can now be minimized for faster running; automatic record count of CONTACT1 and CONTACT2 occurs before you start running the Verifier.
September 9, 2009 (2009-R for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Minor enhancements.
August 1, 2009 (2009-Q for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: BR7 Utility. For the Direct Editor: You can now setup a Screen Title, Text of Instructions and Lookup Lists generated from any tables in any accessible databases on your system. Q-file Acknowledgment Event also enhanced to allow a Pause until a Windows application (such as BR7 Utility) is closed.
July 16, 2009 (2009-M for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Merge-Purge and De-Dupe. The result of your Dupes Expression can now be up to 250 characters, increased from 99 (or 100, for De-dupe).
ENHANCED: BR7 Utility. You can now setup field Labels, field Mouse Tips and field Lookups for the full-screen Editor (PENCIL icon on toolbar).
June 29, 2009 (2009-K for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ADDED: RotaryTable() function. Optional replacement for the RoundRobin() function. Also, allows you to store your own literal values or expressions, to be called and evaluated for any operation.
ENHANCED: BR7 Utility. You can now pass in a parameter to load the dBase table into Edit Mode, as in:
C:\GOLDBOXU\BR7.EXE C:\GOLDBOXU\DATA\DEMODATA.DBF EDIT-MODE
Ideal in a GoldBox Q-file, to pause and capture User Input for downstream operations via the RotaryTable() function. See F1 Help panel for RotaryTable() function.
FOR GoldBox 7 ONLY:
ADDED: Additional warning message at ACCOUNTNO Regenerator Setup screen.
ADDED: Quick-Delete of NOTES for GM85. Found as an option at the Import/Update wizard.
FIXED: Bug with Import / Update, only when addressing a secondary Contact File (NOT Main GoldMine database). General application error (Yes / No EXIT prompt) occurred at the end of the procedure.
REMOVED: (preliminary) Universal Updater. This capability, which is already covered in GoldBox 7 by the customized GoldMine Import / Update and the more generic Mirror Update, has been greatly expanded and will appear as a separate product called GoldBox Universal Updater ©. Its primary purpose is to address NON-GoldMine database systems (such as RedHorseCRM) for Import, Update, Global Replace and Global Delete.
May 27, 2009 (2009-J for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
This release is almost entirely for GoldBox 7. Only minor transparent changes were added to GoldBox SQL and GoldBox 5.
GoldBox 7 version 2009-J is critical for you to download even if you do not have the new GoldMine 8.5. Many under-the-hood enhancements were added to stabilize and optimize its procedures.
GoldBox 7 is now compatible with the changes made to the GoldMine data model, resulting from the recent release of GoldMine 8.5. A sincere THANK YOU goes out to all who provided input during this difficult conversion. A special BIG THANKS to John Stillman of FrontRange Solutions, Inc., who enthusiastically provided pinpoint technical assistance.
When you download and apply the update, GoldBox 7 now auto-senses the version of GoldMine 7.x to 8.x you have, and adjusts itself transparently.
Nearly all of the work involved in 2009-J was to maintain the functionality already existent in GoldBox 7, while addressing the new GoldMine 8.5. Essentially there was just one major feature addition, the Universal Updater.
UNICODE: Currently, GoldBox 7, which is reliant on the BDE Administrator, does not modify the rarely used Unicode field types of NVARCHAR, NCHAR or NTEXT. If you don’t add those field types to your GoldMine system in MSSQL 2005 / 2008, you will be fine as far as GoldBox usage is concerned. Unicode field types can be queried via the CAST() function, but they cannot be written to, currently. When you are setting up a new Contact File in GoldMine, please be aware that a checkbox exists to use Unicode. If you select it, then GoldBox will be UNABLE to address the tables containing Unicode field types.
NOTES MIGRATOR: When GoldBox determines that you are using GoldMine 8.5, the Notes Migrator disappears from the menu, and will not run at the Batch Processor. With the single Main Notes entry cut loose in GoldMine 8.5, and with Notes entries now stored as individual items in the new NOTES table, GoldBox’s Notes Migrator is no longer necessary.
ADDED: UNIVERSAL UPDATER. Found at the Import / Update wizard, bottom entry at the Target screen. You can now address any single accessible table for New Record Import, Update Existing, Global Replace and Global Delete. If the table you are addressing is a GoldMine table, you can flag it for sync stamping and RECID value generation. Universal Updater combines the best features of the Import / Update with the simplicity and versatility of Mirror Update. In fact, it should probably now be used in place of Mirror Update. Please read the F1 help panel carefully, and proceed cautiously, when implementing the Universal Updater.
April 22, 2009 (2009-E for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Import / Update (GoldBox 7 only). You can now Write-Back to Source fields when Adding NEW records only; previously, you could only write back on an Update scenario.
ENHANCED: Import / Update Opportunities and Projects (GoldBox 7 and GoldBox SQL only). The up-to-5 user-defined fields which can be added to OPMGR in GoldMine are now accessible at the Mapping screen for Import / Update.
ENHANCED: Interface (GoldBox 7 only). Improved graphical icons on assorted screens.
ENHANCED: Import / Update (GoldBox 7 only). You can now create your Source table by going directly to the Query / Convert Setup from the Import Setup screen. ADDED: Minor cosmetic improvements to the interface.
ENHANCED: Dedupe 1 GoldMine Table (GoldBox 7 and GoldBox SQL only). When choosing to COPY OUT the Dupes instead of deleting them, you can now select to include the Survivors (checkmarked). Ideal as a Preview listing to open in GXBrowser.
ENHANCED: Config Screen for GoldBox 7. You can select the Color and Highlight for all List Boxes in the system, including Global Selector, Query and Expression Builders. You can also select the Left-Handed Mouse adjustment, which causes selector buttons to appear down the left side of the screen instead of the right side.
ENHANCED: CONTACT2 field type / conversion for Setups. Logic was added to correctly handle fields added AFTER the RECID (typically RECID is the final Contact2 field), and to include conversion of some of the more exotic MSSQL field types, such as TINYINT, LONGVARCHAR, BIGINT, VARBINARY, SMALLDATETIME. Please Note: The BDE Administrator is unable to fetch fields of the type NCHAR, NTEXT, NVARCHAR, SQL_VARIANT, UNIQUEIDENTIFIER and XML.
ENHANCED: Import / Update. For Source table Write-Back at the Mapping screen, you can now choose to Add new fields without having to use a Q-file entry to Modify the Structure.
ENHANCED: Import / Update. As a Write-Back entry, you can COPY OUT the Source table when the operation ends, without a Q-file entry. For GoldBox 7 and GoldBox SQL: Additionally, when auto-converting an ASCII / CSV / SDF file at the Import Setup screen for GoldMine, you can define an option to copy it out.
ENHANCED: Import / Update into GoldMine and Export from GoldMine. At the Mapping screen, you can define direct SQL Queries into the GoldMine database to populate fields. Ideal for including linked values in an Import/Update or Export, or for fetching Totals, Counts, Minimum/Maximum values. A QUERY button will appear at the Expression Builder. (Added on March 17th): In GoldBox 7, a SQL ELEMENTS dropdown appears at the top right. You can use it also to select any GoldMine field from any table. See Help panel {DIRECT-MAP a GoldMine SQL Query}.
Examples:
1. If importing / updating DETAIL records, you could store the Main Contact’s City / State / Zip in the ADDRESS3 field:
– CSELECT city + ‘, ‘ + state + ‘ ‘ + zip FROM contact1 WHERE u_key2 = ‘<<Demodata->Companyid>>’
– The Source table DEMODATA links to a Main Contact by Company ID, stored in the KEY2 field.
– This also works, but you MUST move the ADDRESS3 field DOWN, after the ACCOUNTNO field:
– CSELECT city + ‘, ‘ + state + ‘ ‘ + zip FROM contact1 WHERE accountno = ‘<<GXI->AccountNo>>’
2. If exporting from MAIN CONTACTS, you can export out the number of Detail records for each:
– NSELECT COUNT(*) FROM contsupp WHERE accountno = ‘<<Tgt->Accountno>>’ AND rectype = ‘P’
3. If exporting from MAIN CONTACTS, you can export out the Completed Sales Sum for each:
– NSELECT SUM(CAST(duration AS INT)) FROM conthist WHERE accountno = ‘<<Tgt->AccountNo>>’ AND srectype = ‘S’
– …and with another Calculated Field, also include the HIGHEST Completed Sale for each Main Contact:
– NSELECT MAX(CAST(duration AS INT)) FROM conthist WHERE accountno = ‘<<Tgt->AccountNo>>’ AND srectype = ‘S’
March 5, 2009 (2009-D for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED:(Added March 5th) Log Entry for Import/Update. Entry now shows Total # of Fields Updated.
FIXED BUG: (Added March 5th) Import/Update into Main Contacts. The default template maps the LASTNAME field with the ActualLast() function, but errors may occur if the CONTACT field is not mapped. GoldBox now transparently removes the LASTNAME mapping at the Batch Processor, if CONTACT is not mapped and ActualLast(GXI->Contact) is the default expression for LASTNAME.
ENHANCED:(Added March 1st) Detail Expander (GoldBox Views). When you have Direct Post to GoldMine as the default, a DELETION of a Detail record in the View propagates to GoldMine (sync-aware) when the user clicks the Post icon.
ENHANCED: (Added March 1st) Virtual Org Chart (Post to GoldMine). You can now select, at the View Setup screen, to NOT include the Member Count on the Book record (Chart Title). Member Count will still be calculated and display in the Virtual Chart, and will be stored in an unused field of the CONTSUPP Org Chart book records.
ENHANCED: TimeStagger() function. After extensive testing by savvy GoldBox consultants, the function was adjusted to update the Mailbox table from the queued CAL records for an E-mail blast.
ENHANCED: Global Replace (GX7 and GXSQL only). You can now globally replace records in LOOKUP, MAILBOX, OPMGR and OPMGRFLD tables.
ENHANCED: Import / Update Field Mapping screen. Up/Down arrows added above the Target List, to allow moving any row (record) in the template.
ENHANCED: BR7 Utility. You can now move any row (record) for any dBase table up or down. Activate from the dropdown list, Record MOVER Toggle. The record point arrows at the top left become record mover arrows.
FIXED BUG: (GX7 and GXSQL). A rare bug was discovered and eliminated, when user-defined fields in CONTACT2 are named as subsets (Example: UUPLOAD and UUPLOADDT). Caused inconsistency because the smaller field name may not have been included in the optimized SQL Query (transparently created by GoldBox).
February 9, 2009 (2009-C for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ADDED: CalQprune() function. Allows handling of Calendar Q records for blast Emails, by looking into the recipient’s E-mail Address record for pinpoint evaluation of the MergeCodes field. Can be used in the Filter Expression for Global Delete, Group Builder, Export and Global Replace.
ADDED: E-Mail Address PRIMARY Normalizer. Found at {Service } {Contact File VERIFIER, option L} and at {Import / Update of E-mail Addresses}. In the Verifier, GoldBox steps through ALL Main Contact E-mail Addresses and ensures a SINGLE is flagged as Primary. At the Import / Update, Primary flagging / un-flagging is dynamically handled, based on whether the incoming addresses are to be marked Primary or Non-primary.
ADDED: Opti-Sizer for CONTACT2 Fields (GX7 and GXSQL only). Checkbox at Service / Config Screen. May eliminate “Record Too Large” error for some GoldBox operations, when you have a VERY LARGE Contact2 table size (many fields, large widths on Character fields). The TGT table is dynamically optimized if possible. REMINDER: Contact File VERIFIER, option C, produces a report of Contact2 field usage for assistance in direct adjustments of the table in SQL.
ENHANCED: Export Utility. You can globally replace a field in the exported table by using the Replace Field option at the Export Setup screen. Use ZMAILOUT-> as the table name and pointer.
February 2, 2009 (2009-B for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ADDED: TimeStagger() function. Suggested as a method to stagger the Times (and Dates) of a queued Email blast in GoldMine’s CAL table. For example, if you have 5,000 emails queued for a specific Email Template, you can use TimeStagger() to have 50 go out at the original minute, 50 go out 10 minutes later, the next 50 go out 10 minutes after that and so on. When Time rolls past midnight, the Date is incremented as well.
ADDED: BloxMarker() function. Lets you replace a field alternately with one of 2 entries. Handy as a visual cue when browsing blocks of records with a common field (such as multiple Email Addresses for Main Contacts).
ENHANCED: GXTranslate() function. For multiple words (or codes) within a field, you can now define the separator (previously, the function always assumed a SPACE as separator). In addition, you can define a new separator for the translated result. Example: A, B, C, D, E can be translated (via Export, for example) to Platinum // Gold // Silver // Bronze // Steel
ENHANCED: Import / Update Mapping screen. You can now right-click on a row in the Target List, and at the popup menu, select to Move the row DOWN (swap current row with row beneath). Useful especially when you need mapped Expressions to execute in a certain order.
ENHANCED: Global Replace Setup screen. Similar to the above enhancment, you can Double-Click the Field slot (not the button, the slot next to it) and move its Field / Expression DOWN.
January 11, 2009 (2009-A for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Merge-Purge (GoldBox 7 and GoldBox SQL): Preview Report for COUNT Mode may operate faster to produce Tab record totals, per Survivor and Dupe(s).
ENHANCED: Import / Update (GoldBox 7 only): When using a Direct SQL Query for Record Match to Main Contacts, you can now select Multiple Match Updating. Previously this was only available for a Custom Match Expression. Direct SQL Query should operate much faster for this scenario.
ENHANCED: Trigger for GoldBox Views. At Saved Setups, you can now clipboard a RUN statement to launch the operation or Q-file, which can be used directly as the Trigger command for a Screen Button in GoldBox Views.
ENHANCED: Contact File VERIFIER (GoldBox 7 and GoldBox SQL). All items can now be individually selected, and, you can clipboard a LAUNCH statement to run the Verifier outside of the GoldBox interface. Field Usage of CONTACT2 added, displaying all Character field Widths and Longest Value. Can assist in pruning unused fields from CONTACT2, reducing field widths.
ENHANCED: Unique Value Listing and Filled Field Count reports. Displays character field widths and longest values.
ENHANCED: VLinkbyQuery() Function. You can now use up to 5 iterations of the function per GoldBox Operation or View. This allows, in an Import/Update or Export or Global Replace, to link with up to 5 outside databases and tables, and directly access their record values.
November 16, 2008 (2008-X for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Notes Migrator. GoldMine has 3 known formats for User-Date-Time banners for Main Notes entries. GoldBox will now transparently test for all 3 in attempting to parse entries to History.
REFRESHED: Detail Expander Template
ENHANCED: Minor changes to GXBrowser and BR7 Utility.
FIXED BUG: Import into REFERRALS (GoldBox 7 and GoldBox SQL only).
October 22, 2008 (2008-W for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Import into Detail records (22-OCT-08). GoldBox now prompts you for an existing Detail Type in GoldMine (or you can key in a NEW Detail Type). If existing, GoldBox checks for custom labels on extended Detail fields and writes them into the Field Mapping Template. Included in Detail “plug-in” option, and especially useful when you are plugging in different Detail record types in a single pass.
ENHANCED: Q-file Event Processor (20-OCT-08). You can now choose to have any Q-file RESUME at a designated time of day. Select a time, and the Batch Processor will PAUSE until that time is reached. It will then exit that event and resume with the next one. You can press F-10 to manually exit. Ideal as a timer, and also to stop down the Batch Processor so that other non-GoldBox events or actions can run.
ENHANCED: GXBrowser. Speed increases were coded into the Unique Field Listing, Global Replace, Global Delete, Global UN-Delete and Filled Field Count. In the case of Unique Field Listing: A generated listing on a 43,000 record table which previously took 18 minutes, now takes 5 seconds. Also in GXBrowser: Any dBase table (other than from a Saved Setup screen) being viewed can now be loaded into the BR7 Utility for operations such as Zap, Pack, Reindex, Change Field Structure, etc.
ENHANCED: Contact File VERIFIER (GoldBox 7 and GoldBox SQL). An option was added to identify and/or update discrepancies between GoldMine fields and their U_Field counterparts. 10 tables in GoldMine contain U_Fields, which are indexed for fast response on SQL Queries. GoldBox handles all tables, all fields, and notates each on the auto-generated report.
ENHANCED: Import and Export Mapping Template screens. An Item LOCATOR was added to the bottom row of both screens, to quickly get you anywhere in the Mapping Template.
ENHANCED: SQL Query Builder. Logic was added to handle UPDATE and DELETE FROM commands as a SQL Statement upon a table. UPDATE is for field replacement, DELETE FROM is for record deletion. USE WITH CAUTION! Choose either option from the KEYWORDS dropdown, at the bottom of that list. A rough template of the statement appears in the Query window. UPDATE and DELETE FROM statements contain no SELECT keyword – they are directly executed in SQL.
IMPROVED: GoldBox Views SEAT Purchasing.
September 28, 2008 (2008-U for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ADDED: Contact File VERIFIER. Found at the GoldBox {Service} menu. Recommend this process be run prior to ANY Merge-Purge of Main Contacts. This vital feature performs 3 general operations:
– Removes possible corruption from GoldMine’s Label tables (FIELDS5 and CONTUDEF).
– Analyzes CONTACT1 and CONTACT2 tables for Un-Linked, Blank, Duped and Corrupted ACCOUNTNO field values.
– Analyzes (optionally, selected by you individually) Group Members, History, Additional Contacts, Details, Referrals, Linked Documents, A/P Track References and Record Alerts for Un-Linked and Blank ACCOUNTNO field values.
This is the easiest operation in GoldBox to setup. You select the Contact File, click START, and the totals are generated on the screen. A report then auto-displays in your default TXT File Editor.
ENHANCED: GoldBox Views. You can now designate any data entry Character field as a Dropdown List. Found at the Field Properties screen, dropdown for Entry Mask.
ENABLED: Single Table Dedupe for BASIC Editions of GoldBox 5 and GoldBox SQL. This was done to provide full normalization of CONTACT1 and CONTACT2 prior to a Merge-Purge.
September 24, 2008 (2008-T for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Import Field Mapping screen. Minor cosmetic enhancements.
ENHANCED: GoldBox View Setup screen and Field Properties screen, all releases (on 14-Sep-08).
ENHANCED: History / E-mail Archive Setup screen (on 10-Sep-08). You can now directly open the Archive tables in GXBrowser from the screen.
BUG FIXES: (on 10-Sep-08). The VU01AARK.ZIP file was refreshed, as one variable in the Template was missing and was not being translated during the Configure operation. For GoldBox 7: Several right-click options (seldom-used) at a few Setup screens were maintained but re-assigned, so as not to conflict with the right-click popup menu.
ENHANCED: Interface (GoldBox 7 only). All screens improved. At the 20 Setup screens, right-click for extra features popup menu. At the Field Mapping screen for Import/Update, a right-click popup exists.
ADDED: Three-View Template for History / Email Archive replaced by a new 1-View.
ENHANCED: Virtual Org Chart now lets you define the break widths.
August 8, 2008 (2008-R for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: GoldBox Batch Processor. When running a Q-file, the Q-file name will appear at the end of the displayed lines. Also, the Q-file Event Window nows displays up to 13 events, increased from 11.
IMPROVED: GoldBox Batch Processor. In previous versions, the Batch Processor window blanked out if another application was run on top of it. GoldBox runs at such a high rate of speed that the label and counter items on the screen could not refresh. Now, the green status bar at the bottom is used to insert a 1/1000th of a second pause every time a new green element is added, allowing screen refresh. Also, the Batch Processor can now be overlaid by any other application.
June 16, 2008 (2008-Q for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL)
ADDED:(GX7 / GXSQL ONLY) At the Import / Update Setup screen, you can now select to auto-convert a Text File into the Source Table. Previously, you could only do this with a Q-file entry. Ideal for RECURRING Imports.
May 5, 2008 (2008-Mm for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, 2008-M for GoldBox 5)
ADDED:(GX7 / GXSQL ONLY) Source-driven Direct E-mail Address Matching. Ideal if you have a Source list of Bad E-mail Addresses and you wish to identify, or later, update or delete their exact matches in GoldMine. See the F1 Help panel: DIRECT E-MAIL ADDRESS MATCHING for instructions on setup and usage.
ADDED:(GX7 / GXSQL ONLY) Source-driven Direct DELETE. Found at Import/Update Setup Screen, when you select BYPASS Matches. Allows you to DELETE matching records rather than Update them. Main Contacts, and their linked records, can also be deleted in this procedure. For Tab records: Alternative to the RECID-based Quick Delete, when you Source table does NOT have a RECID value, but does have a match to the Main Contact and to a particular Tab record attached to that Main Contact. For Main Contacts: Much faster than the Global Archive and Delete under the Export operation.
ADDED:(GX7 / GXSQL ONLY) Variables for SQL Login / Password for ODBC Conversion, Mirror Update and GoldBox Views. Ideal when transferring these Saved Setups to a client, and the operation or View is based on a GoldMine Database table. GoldBox, when encountering these variables, will on-the-fly pull the Login / Password from the Service / Config Screen. For Login, use VSQLUSER and for Password, use VSQLPASSWORD
ADDED:(GX7 / GXSQL ONLY) Ignore FIELDS5 for Labels. At Service / Config Screen. Cosmetic effect only. Bypasses error when attempting to open GoldMine’s FIELDS5 table.
ADDED:Quick-Delete of Lookups (RECID-based, at Import/Update wizard).
April 8, 2008 GoldBox’s 15-year Anniversary date (2008-K for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
RE-DESIGNED:COPY / MOVE of GoldMine TAB Records. Although older capability exists in primary GoldBox Views, new green GoldBox View templates created for Copy / Move of Calendar, History, Additional Contacts and Detail records. For MOVE of Additional Contacts: Attached HISTORY will also move to the receiving Main Contact.
March 17, 2008 (Version 2008-G for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED:GoldBox View Setup screen. Cosmetic changes, improved readability.
ENHANCED:Virtual Org Charts. For 2-Level Charts based on GoldMine data, you can now choose to “prune” Member record(s) if they match (by ACCOUNTNO) the Book record.
ENHANCED:Q-file Event. You can now launch a Table Cleanse of any DBF. Use with extreme caution. Option is found under the DBF Zap operation.
March 10, 2008 (Version 2008-E for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED:Batch Processor. Operations should now run FASTER.
ENHANCED:GoldBox Views. You can now place screen items (such as Labels and Buttons) directly on the Toolbar at the top of the View. If Label, key in 95 as the Height for optimum fit. If Button, key in 100. Also, several standard Graphics character sets were added to the Fonts dropdown, including Marlett, Symbol, Webdings, Wingdings.
March 4, 2008 (Version 2008-D for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED:Import / Update. At the Field Mapping Template: CASE Conversion button is now a 4-way switch (UPPER / Proper / lower / <none>).
ENHANCED: GoldBox Views:
– Lookup List allows user to select Multiple items with Ctrl-click, then click Multiple button. Items can be auto-wrapped in quotes and comma-separated (for SQL List variable to IN clause), or can be unwrapped and comma / space separated.
– Lookup List, for any particular field, can be made to display as centered and screen-height, for huge lists. Ideal for multiple item selection, such as a large number of GoldMine User Names.
– Screen Buttons can be used as blocks of customizable text to present on-screen information to users. Each button can contain up to 508 characters. Button text length greater than 80 characters will cause the text to auto-justify to the left (otherwise, button text is auto-centered).
– Screen sizing and positioning controls added to Item Attributes screen.
– Default Data Entry view added, uses ASKVUSER.DBF as default table. Ideal for creating entry screens to users, to supply merge field variables to GoldBox Batch Operations.
ADDED: Tools for GoldBox implementers, to assist in design and transfer of setups to clients. Ability to Clear Out local Database Names / Contact Files in AD2SETUP.DBF at implementer side, allowing client to re-select those entries from their system. Under {Views} menu, option {Validate Batch Operation Databases} added for quick-select of local Contact Files and BDE Alias names. Indicator of missing or bad Database Names also added to Global Selector. Added a Q-file event to force Acknowledgment by user to continue. Ideal as “sanity check” when user launches Q-files from desktop, and as hard stops in the middle of a Q-file (to allow other processing to complete, for example).
February 17, 2008 (Version 2008-C for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED:Import / Update. At the Field Mapping Template:
– ( / rem ) Button added. You can now Remark Out one or more fields, for testing and troubleshooting. Mapping info is preserved, but when Remarked Out, the field is ignored by the Import operation. Ideal when you have a large number of Map Expressions and one or more is causing an error.
– When you Right-Click on a Target List field, a Quick View displays for easy review of all that is to occur upon that field during the Import operation.
– Cosmetic improvements to the Mapping Template screen.
ENHANCED:GoldBox System Table Maintenance. Borrowing from the “Cleanse the Table” operation in the BR7 Utility, Table Cleansing will now occur automatically for many system tables when the Maintenance (Pack / Index) is run.
January 26, 2008 (Version 2008-B for GoldBox 7, GoldBox SQL, GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Org Chart Builder. Virtual Org Chart (in GoldBox Views) now allows Expression result as Chart Title (Book) value; GoldBox will now include a Member Count at the end of each Book record; Member Count now tracked in a separate CONTSUPP field of the Book record (in ADDRESS3 field); Quick-Delete of Org Charts now allows you to generate the Source table (via SQL Query or Export of RECID) of ONLY Book records, and all Section and Member entries underneath are auto-deleted. Ideal for eliminating Singleton Charts. Please see the F1 Help panel called: GoldBox Views – Virtual Org Charts.
ENHANCED: Import/Update (for GX7 and GXSQL). At the Setup screen, you can now select a Query Conversion Setup to create the Source dBase table. This eliminates the need to create a Q-file just for the purpose of Querying a Table, and then running the Import.
January 15, 2008 (Version 2008-A for GoldBox 7)
ENHANCED: Configuration screen, elimination of issues with initial config to GoldMine.
January 2, 2008 (Version 2008-A for GoldBox 7 / GoldBox SQL / GoldBox 5)
ENHANCED: Import / Update. When importing into or updating Main Contacts, you can now select a global switch to turn OFF the Plug-in of TAB records. Especially useful for TESTING matching scenarios to Main Contacts, typically used in conjunction with the Bypass Matches checkbox.
ENHANCED: Import / Update. You can now use Quick-Delete (RECID-based matching) for the CONTACT2 table (user-defined fields for Main Contact). This can be used in conjunction with the new Preview option at Table Dedupe. See below.
ENHANCED: Import / Update. When importing into GoldMine, you can now click a button to instantly ‘park’ 5 Source records into GXI.DBF. Button is QUIK PARK, at Import Setup screen, Source section. This option works directly, and does not require you to select the PARK and STOP checkbox.
ENHANCED: Import / Update. When importing into GoldMine with GoldBox 7 or GoldBox SQL, the Direct SQL Query button will now allow you, at the Query Builder, to directly build Merge Field expressions from GXI.DBF and easily append them to your SQL Query. You will be able to Interpret them, and test the Result of the SQL Query while still in Import Setup mode. See next.
ENHANCED: SQL Query Builder. A new purple button called {INTERPRET} has been added. If you are using Merge Fields or GXinput() fragments in your SQL Query, this option will do an onscreen interpretation in the SQL Query. In addition, if you wish to run the SQL Query at the GoldBox interface and you have Merge Field fragments, you can Double-Right-Click the RESULT button to interpret the fragments for your Result Set. Especially useful for the VLinkByQuery() function.
ENHANCED: Function VLinkByQuery(). You can now use Merge Field expressions directly in the SQL Query. The Assembler (at the Service Menu) has been altered to make the creation and appending of Merge Field expressions easier. VLinkByQuery() is similar to VLink2dBase(), whereby you can dynamically link to a GoldMine or outside ODBC table during a GoldBox batch operation (such as Export, Import, Global Replace, Group Builder, etc.)
FIXED: Bug with {Fetch RECID matching for Tab record Import/Update} in GoldBox 7, which uses the above VLinkByQuery() logic.
ENHANCED: Single Table Dedupe. You can now cause the identified Dupes to be exported out to a dBase table called GOLDDUPE.DBF, instead of deleting. Ideal for archiving Dupes before deletion, and to use for comparing to GoldMine. For GoldMine tables containing the ACCOUNTNO field, you can open GOLDDUPE.DBF in the GXBrowser, where a DDE Link is attempted to GoldMine (if open). NOTE: For GoldBox 5 and GoldBox SQL, Single Table Dedupe is only in the PRO Edition.
ENHANCED: Merge-Purge. When creating a new setup, GoldBox auto-inserts a matching scheme of Smoothed Companies and Smoothed Contact Names. GoldBox will now add the 2nd limiting parameter of ‘C’ to the SmoothComp() function call, to limit searches to Company entries only. NOTE: The inserted matching scheme is only a suggested entry, and can be easily changed to whatever matching scheme you wish.
ENHANCED: Config Screen for GoldBox 7. Intended to make initial configuration a bit easier.
